it can divided into three categories.
a) informal organization
- social structure that governs how people work together in practice.
- consists of personal relationship,social networks and common interest.
- the firms need to response changes in work environment, unanticipated events, innovation and enable to solve the problems.
key characteristics of informal organization
- excellent at motivation
- treats people as individuals
- responsive
b) semiformal organization
- known as matrix organization
- logistics/supply chain manager doesn't have direct authority toward components activities
- they also must have responsibility for the entire logistics system
- this type of organization is very popular among aerospace industry.
- in this choices, the conflict may occur but it difficult to resolve.
c) formal organization
- one of the clear lines of authority and responsiblity for logistics/supply chain
- involves with place the manager's authority on level of organization structure which allow them to compromise with other major functional (finance,marketing). it also involve with placing manager in the level that relative to logistics activities
important of formal organization toward logistics/supply chain.
- same authority as other major function (voice to resolve conflict)
- limited number of subareas created under chief logistics/supply chain officer

centralized company.
centralized company? whats that?? maybe some of you not very familiar
with this term, but for those who really into the business, logistics and such
thing, there must really2 know that term.
every thing need a decision. same goes to organization. for the
centralized organization, the situation in which decision-making power is at
the top of an organization and there is little delegation of authority. meaning
here that each department/branch in the company must refer to the top
management or HQ for them to make a decision. without their permission, the
work will get nothing 0.0

Line authority - in which individuals in management positions have the formal power to direct and control immediate subordinates.
Staff authority - granted to staff specialists in their areas of expertise. Narrower than line authority and includes the right to advise, recommend, and counsel in the staff specialists' area of expertise. It is a communication relationship with management. It has an influence that derives indirectly from line authority at a higher level.

organizational orientation define as all departments of a firm should be geared to satisfying consumer wants/needs. (refer to the web definition). It's have 3 strategies which most firm pursued.
a) Process strategy
- the objective for this strategy is to achieve the max efficiency in moving goods from RM to FG.
- it's focus on the activities that rise the cost for example like purchasing, transportation, O/P and etc.
b) Market strategy
- this strategy mostly focus on customer requirement.
- in order to get customer loyalty, they must give the best services and also performance in their company.
- better customer will increase the sale and also market.
- it's refer to network between one firm and another. e.g. dealers and distribution organization.
- it's content with primary objective and information is the key ingredient for good management.
- for example in the text book is when the goods place on retail outlets, information about that must be obtained across the org. boundaries.
next we move on to the other subtopic; decentralized company.

- Mara also one of the decentralized company. decentralized define the firm that have delegation of authority and have many departments and scopes such as Mara it's no only focus on academic but also to entrepreneur field.
- for such company, the decision making will be made by top management but the idea will come out from other workers.
- the advantages for decentralized are; allow quicker and more customization response to customer needs.
